The Procedure of Placing Dental Veneers

Veneer placement requires a minimum of three visits – one for a consultation, one for preparation for the veneers, and one for cementing them. Additional visits may be necessary to formulate a mock-up of the procedure before initiation. Dr. Wang can perform the procedure on multiple teeth simultaneously.

Diagnosis and Treatment Planning

During your initial visit to our office in Pleasanton, California, Dr. Wang will assess your concerns and provide details about different types of veneers. You can choose from porcelain veneers or composite veneers after considering their specific benefits which Dr. Wang can discuss with you if both types are an option for your case.

Treatment Preparation

To prepare the teeth, Dr. Wang will administer local anesthesia and remove a part of the tooth enamel equivalent to the thickness of the veneer to be placed on its surface.

Next, Dr. Wang will take an impression of your teeth and select the color of the veneers. This will then be sent out to the dental lab to fabricate the veneers. Until the permanent veneers are ready, Dr. Wang will place temporary veneers.

Bonding

When your custom-made veneers are ready, Dr. Wang will first confirm their fit and color. Any additional adjustments will be made to the teeth to achieve a comfortable fit before permanently bonding the veneers. Once the veneers are properly positioned, they are bonded using dental adhesives. A special light will also be used to harden the adhesives. Finally, Dr. Wang will remove any excess cement, check the bite, and make any required final adjustments.

We recommend you return for a follow-up visit in a couple of weeks to check the placement and fit of your veneers.
