What is Invisalign?

Some dentists have referred to Invisalign as “contact lenses for teeth.”

Invisalign is the invisible way to straighten teeth without braces. Invisalign uses a series of medical grade clear, removable aligners to gradually and gently straighten teeth. Invisalign is clear. You can straighten your teeth without anyone knowing. Invisalign is removable. Unlike braces, you can eat and drink what you want during treatment. You can also brush and floss normally to maintain good oral hygiene.

Invisalign offers aesthetic and health benefits over conventional metal braces and can offer results in fewer dental appointments and a shorter total treatment time.

Is Invisalign comfortable?

Invisalign is comfortable. There are no metal brackets or wires as with braces to cause mouth irritation, and no metal or wires means you spend less time in the doctor’s chair getting adjustments.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign uses modern 3-D computer imaging technology to depict the complete treatment plan from the initial position to the final desired position from which a series of custom-made, clear “aligners” are produced. Each “aligner” moves teeth incrementally and is worn for about two weeks, then replaced by the next in the series until the final position is achieved.

Benefits of Invisalign

Invisalign is often the preferred method for patients to correct the orthodontic issues listed below because of the ease of use. Invisalign are removable which means you can simply take out the aligners when you eat, drink, brush, and floss.

Invisalign can help you achieve your dream smile without having to deal with the look of braces. This series of clear aligners will gradually move your teeth until their desired position is reached, all while maintaining a smile you are not embarrassed to show off.

Invisalign can often be used to treat some of the following orthodontic issues:

  • Underbite
  • Crossbite
  • Overbite
  • Open bite
  • Unevenly spaced teeth
  • Crowded teeth

Invisalign Procedure

Once Dr. Wang confirms your candidacy for Invisalign treatment, we will take an intraoral scan of your teeth using digital imaging systems. No impressions will be needed at our office since we have the advanced 3D iTero scanner. This data is sent to the dental lab that fabricates the aligners. Dr. Wang will also provide a 3D image of your mouth and show you what you can expect your smile to look like following Invisalign treatment.

In the following visit, Dr. Wang will ensure that the customized aligners fit well and instruct you how to wear them. Regular visits to the dentist are necessary to monitor the treatment progress and obtain new aligners.
